Visiting: Eating out
Japanese people certainly enjoy eating and drinking and in the major cities you will be spoilt
with a choice of foods from all nationalities.

Eating and drinking will be on the expensive side so budget well.

Japanese Restaurants
The most intriguing thing for visitors is likely to be the window displays of plastic replica dishes. These are very realistic and helpful in ordering (menus are often only in Japanese) - just take the waiter outside, point to the dish and say 'kore o kudasai' (that one please).
More exclusive restaurants, like this one in a Kyoto side street, are unlikely to welcome foreigners without a Japanese companion.

For people in a hurry, there is a wide choice of 'fast food' eating places.
The ubiquitous McDonalds is popular along with countless snack and noodle bars, coffee bars and wonderful pastry shops.
